Hunting Simulator 3 vs Way of the Hunter 2

Way of the Hunter 2 or Hunting Simulator 3 is the decision most people are actually making. Both list at $39.99 on Steam. One shipped a month earlier with online co-op. The other shipped on 29 October 2026 as a solo game with a written plan for four players in 2027.

How I would choose

Pick Way of the Hunter 2 if you want to hunt with friends this month. Its Steam categories already include multiplayer and online co-op. Hunting Simulator 3's store categories do not. Nacon's FAQ says a later update lets friends join a reserve, puts that update in 2027, and says the first multiplayer update has no crossplay. That is a plan, not a mode you can select today.

Pick Hunting Simulator 3 if the licensed gun rack and the dog are the point, and you are fine hunting alone on two North American reserves. The minimum RAM is half of WOTH2's, which matters on an 8 GB machine. The GPU floor is the same class of card. I am not declaring a graphics winner: one Reddit post praised HS3's draw distance, and that is one player, not a lab.

Scores I will not mash together

HS3's launch reviews sit between 60 and 80, with Steam Mostly Positive on roughly 51 to 61 reviews. Way of the Hunter 2's Steam page showed 1,999 recommendations in the read I used. Metacritic's 65 belongs to the 2022 Way of the Hunter, not to this sequel. If a video title says 'WOTH2 vs Hunting Simulator 3', it is the same question as this page with the names flipped.
